Choice

In life you are constantly making choices. It can go from the simple choice of "what will I eat for dinner tonight" to the ones which need a bit more reflection when it comes to your career or personal life. For choices between two ice cream flavours, you are not taking a big risk. If you choose one today, you can always try the other one next time. But when it concerns bigger life decisions, it is all about priority. Each time you ask yourself "Am I making the right decision", take a deep breath and evaluate if it will help you grow in the long run. If that's the case, go for it. If not, maybe you should reconsider your option. The choices you are making today will have an impact on your life tomorrow, whether it will be a positive or a negative one. So choose wisely. We are living in a world where we are surrounded by a million options everyday. It is easy to get overwhelmed with so many choices, especially when you enjoy learning and trying new things...

Empathy

Empathy is a life skill everyone should have as it is crucial in human relations.

It is the ability to put yourself in the other person’s shoes. It is the capacity to understand others emotions.

Sometimes in life we come across people who lack empathy and make us feel bad but never forget that you cannnot change people but you can only change your reaction towards them. And why feel bad when you know that the lack of empathy the person in front of you is showing is because he/she might be going through a difficult phase himself/herself. Instead of waiting for empathy you should show empathy and care towards them. It will help them heal.

It is also very important in the professional environment especially for Managers. Empathy is one of the most important skills they should have. Having technical skills is obvioulsy key in their jobs but having life skills is even more important as they are managing people who come from diverse backgrounds and different life path. A manager should take all these elements into account when managing their people. They should focus not only on their people’s work ability but also their passion and dreams as it will be then easier to empower them in order to achieve team’s goals and will put them in a position of leader who can be a source of motivation and inspiration.

And as Oprah has rightly said :

« Leadership is about empathy. It is about having the ability to relate to and connect with people for the purpose of inspiring and empowering their lives »

  1. It's beautiful. I remember when people show empathy how happy and relaxed I feel. A couple of weeks ago, my boss showed great levels of empathy and actions towards us. That gesture and presence enabled our team to go the extra mileS in order to overcome all obstacles and reach extraordinary life-changing-and-impacting benefits for the people we serve.
